Get Part Number From Component’s File Name:

Referencing the following figure, a single Model with the [ FILE_NAME ] of ENG_00677.SLDPRT has multiple managed configurations within MechWorks PDM ( ENG_00677 , ENG_00678 , and ENG_00679 ).

Referencing the example, the user decides to make a Drawing for the managed configuration with the [ ID ] of ( ENG_00679 ). Since the global Get Part Number From <> Component’s File Name option is active, the results will be as follows. Notice that the Drawing is properly linked to the specific configuration record and that the Drawing’s [ ID ] value and its [ FILE_NAME ] value were determined by the component’s [ FILE_NAME ] value ( ENG_00677 ).
