AutoNumber Format Options – Rename Tab

Rename <> Configurations: Automatic When this option is enabled, the user is not prompted with the [ Rename Options ] dialog after selecting the AutoNumber Format during a rename event. Instead, the rename process is controlled by its active sub-options (so more of an administrative approach):

• Automatic:

o Rename File Only  Activate this option to rename the physical file (updating the [ FILE_NAME ] value within MechWorks PDM), which also updates its internal references within SolidWorks.  Replace Part Number in ID for All Configurations • Activate this option if the [ ID ] values associated to the file that is being renamed should also be updated (think back to managed configuration records where they all share the same core file name value). o Rename File and Configuration  Activate this option to rename the physical file (updating the [ FILE_NAME ] value within MechWorks PDM), which also updates its internal references within SolidWorks; and update the [ ID ] value within MechWorks PDM; and rename the configuration within the SolidWorks file, as well as updating the [ CONFIGURATION ] value within MechWorks PDM. o Rename Configuration Only  Activate this option to rename the configuration within the SolidWorks file, as well as updating the [ CONFIGURATION ] value within MechWorks PDM.
