Exporting When users right-mouse select an EC record from the [ EC ] grid from within the MechWorks PDM Browser, there are a couple of commands for exporting the metadata of the EC record to physical files. NOTE: The administrator should configure the applicable output templates.

• [Export]:

o [Excel]:  The administrator can configure an Excel template with specific formatting rules, allowing users to export the metadata of the selected EC record as an Excel file. If the administrator has completed this procedure, then executing the [Excel] command will create the Excel file (of the selected EC record) and open it. o [PDF]:  The administrator can configure an Excel template with specific formatting rules, allowing users to export the metadata of the selected EC record as a PDF file. If the administrator has completed this procedure, then executing the [PDF] command will create the PDF file (of the selected EC record) and open it. The administrator can configure one or more “template designs” for each EC record type ( IR vs. ECR vs. ECN ). A “template design” is used by the module to determine how to export the specified metadata into the Excel file’s cells (rows and columns of data) and on which target page within the Excel file (output the EC record’s ID into cell B3 on Page 1, output the EC record’s DESCRIPTION into cell B4 on Page 2, etc.). If the selected output file format was the PDF file, then the resulting PDF file is generated from an Excel file. The resulting file is opened when the process has completed and it can obviously be emailed if desired.
