Appendix D: Custom Scripting

DataEntr_PreEvent.LST: The DataEntr_PreEvent.LST is executed just before the main MWAutoNumber functionality (it is executed before the [ Format List ] is displayed to the user). The DataEntr_PreEvent.LST script can cancel the save/registration process, and is often used to interact with the user (gathering additional information), to then check for conditions that dictates how the Save As process should or should not continue. For example, an administrator may need to prevent users within the “ DBWorks Trainee ” group from registering PDF files within the database. In this case, the DataEntr_PreEvent.LST could be used to check if the document is a PDF and if the user is in the “ DBWorks Trainee ” group. If so, the DataEntr_PreEvent.LST could prevent the document from being registered. See the next few pages for an example of this DataEntr_PreEvent.LST script.
