AutoNumber Format Options – Configurations Tab

The following two figures display the SolidWorks configuration tab, before and after the Save-As process for a component that has three internal configurations. As you can see, the file was assigned a part number from the AutoNumber Format and the names of the configurations (Default, 001, and 002) were assigned by appending the configuration value to the assigned part number based on the options detailed earlier:

During the save/registration process, the user was prompted to select the desired categories (using the Save Wizard ) for each managed configuration record registered within MechWorks PDM:

For this example, the user selected [ FLAT ] (as Category1 ) for all three managed configurations and then assigned each of them a unique Category2 (Disk vs. Curve guidance vs. Machined) and Category3 (Cover plate vs. Disk vs. Guide plate) value:
