AutoNumber Format Options – Configurations Tab

The following two figures display the SolidWorks configuration tab, before and after the Save-As process for a component that has three internal configurations. As you can see, the file was assigned a part number from the AutoNumber Format and the names of the configurations (Default, 001, and 002) were assigned by appending the configuration value to the assigned part number based on the options detailed earlier:

During the save/registration process, the user was prompted to select the desired Categories (from the Save Wizard ) when the initial configuration was registered within MechWorks PDM, but not for the other two brother configurations:

For this example, the user selected [ FLAT ] followed by [ Disk ] followed by [ Cover plate ], so all three registered configurations have been assigned the same exact categories:
