Automatic Rename Configuration Only To rename the other two managed configurations in the file (referencing the previous page), the user could use the Rename Configuration Only option. To review (from the previous example), the file and one of its

managed configurations were renamed using the Rename File and Configuration option, leaving two managed configurations which should now be renamed (from “Concept Design” to “Engineering”):

If a user selects the “ CD 000134 ” configuration and uses an AutoNumber Format with the Rename Configuration Only option active, this time the name of the file ( FILE_NAME ) will not change; while the [ ID ] value and the [ CONFIGURATION ] value for the selected record, and its configuration is renamed within SolidWorks:

Repeating this process for each managed configuration for the noted file allows the configuration to be renamed within SolidWorks, ensuring that its [ ID ] and its [ CONFIGURATION ] values within MechWorks PDM are renamed without

affecting the [ FILE_NAME ]:
