MWAutoNumber for MechWorks PDM Automation.
AutoNumber Format Options – Misc Tab
Misc: Output Revision If active, the selected AutoNumber Format can be assigned a specified [ REVISION ] value that is different than the default initial [ REVISION ] value when registering a document:
By default, the initial [ REVISION ] value applied to a newly registered document is controlled by the MechWorks PDM Revision Scheme. However, the administrator can assign the initial [ REVISION ] value for the selected AutoNumber Format to be something other than the default [ REVISION ] value. For example, an environment might save many new documents using the “Concept Design” AutoNumber Format , in which case the documents should start with the default (initial Pre-Release ) revision ( 00 ):
Then later, the documents may get renamed and assigned an “Engineering” part number and also incremented to the initial Major-Revision ( A ):
However, in some design processes is may be possible to by-pass the “Concept Design” AutoNumber Format when creating new documents, allowing the users to select the “Engineering” AutoNumber Format for creating new documents. For these documents, assigning their initial [ REVISION ] value with the first Major- Revision ( A ) ultimately saves time. To achieve this behavior, the Output Revision option should be set to the initial Major -Revision ( A , in this environment) for the “Engineering” AutoNumber Format :
With the option configured in this way, new documents registered within MechWorks PDM using the “Engineering” AutoNumber Format will be assigned the initial Major- [ REVISION ] of “ A ” rather than the default initial Pre- [ REVISION ] of “ 00 ”:
