AutoNumber Global Options

Global Options: Always Show Format List Before Category Wizard If the option to Always Show Format List Before Category Wizard is disabled, then the [ Save Wizard ] will be displayed before the [ Format List ] if any of the AutoNumber Formats are linked to a specific set of Categories . The purpose of setting the option this way is to automatically select a specific AutoNumber Format based on the Categories selected. For example, if the “Screw” AutoNumber Format has a couple specific sets of Linked Categories as follows:

If the option to Always Show Format List Before Category Wizard is disabled , then the [ Save Wizard ] will be displayed first when the user performs a Save As (if one or more AutoNumber Formats has the Use Categories option enabled). For this example, if the user selects the noted Categories ([STANDARD]  [SCREWS]  [CONICALHEAD] or [STANDARD]  [SCREWS]  [FLATHEAD]), then the “Screw” AutoNumber Format will automatically be applied without having to display the [ Format List ] to the user. On the other hand, if the [ Save Wizard ] is displayed first and the user selects a set of Categories that are not specifically linked to any AutoNumber Format , then the [ Format List ] will be displayed after the [ Save Wizard ] selection process, allowing the user to select the appropriate AutoNumber Format .
